April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade when she took piano and guitar classes. At the age of 12 She composed her debut single, Different. At the age of 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musical ability. Then, she began going to NY and LA with her Dad so that they could both write songs. April added other themes to the tune "Take My Hand" to help her the friends she had who struggled with problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle influencer as well as being a partner with clean beauty brands Ilia she has gained a large fan base. Since she was born without a left hand, Lockhart is an important part of herself. But it's not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't conceal her handicap, but it doesn't just focus on the issue. The message? We all have multiple aspects that our identities are complex and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, says that I do not want that to be a part of myself. I'm much greater than the physical person I am. And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about every day as normal and have found my own method of adjusting things. Because it's my identity and something worth talking about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration in this regard. However, she admits to going through periods of feeling insecure about her physique and being uneasy wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself wearing the clothes she picks out on social platforms. What makes self-love so appealing to her is the fact that it's not a destination. However, that is common for anyone with doubts. It's essential to surround yourself with those who can see and know your true heart.
