I spent months working 12 hour days sanding floors and tear down wallpaper the baby on my back while the other babies were climbing inside the playpen. Ha! The house was getting closer to being done, yet the project was still a distance to go. The project would require an enormous amount of effort and shopping my favorite furnishings for this house. My three sons and me searched for hidden gems while attending estate sales in order to ensure that my spending was under control. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Thursday through Saturday walking around estate and garage sales, shopping for new and used items. I then spent the remainder of the week sanding and painting the driveway. My passion for restoration of furniture began with a look like this. When our home was fully furnished, I could not put it down! I had a space in the market at my local location and even sold some items there. Then, I ran out of numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the available space. My home was where I began hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and buy any item they wanted from the first floor in just one weekend. Growing Days is the result of this. While my company grew, so did our little family. I was finding that balance of what it was like to start a new business while also being a mommy. Growing Days just fit. In 2013, my daughter Nora became our fourth child. My business was going well but I wanted a rest. I decided to quit working on my antique furniture for a few months and spend time with my children. This was precisely what I needed. Within a couple of months, my phone started to ring. They were asking for my help in interior decoration and home renovations. Most of these people were those who had walked through my home during the open house for furniture! I started taking on some customers one by one going at my own pace but it wasn't too long before I had multiple accounts and was running a complete home renovation business. If you had told me that my business would be the premise for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of the story.
