Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable and yet powerful characters has helped make her one of today's greatest American actors. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating in the year 2000, before making her TV debut in the next year. Her appearances have been on a variety of shows on stage, television and film productions since then. Over the course of her career, she won many awards, including two Golden Globe Awards. Although she received many awards over the years, theater has always been her first interest.
